Pokémon Information
The Pokémon franchise centers around creatures known as Pokémon, which exist in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and characteristics. Each Pokémon is assigned one or two elemental types that influence its development, abilities, and the moves it can learn. These types play a significant role in defining a Pokémon’s strengths, weaknesses, and overall behavior. Similar to real-world animals, Pokémon fall within specific ranges of height and weight, although most species are represented by standard values for these attributes. These statistics are typically included in Pokédex entries. Additionally, every Pokémon species has a unique Pokédex entry that provides insight into its personality, behavior, and distinguishing traits. This information can be found on the Pokédex page.
Habitats
Pokémon inhabit a wide range of environments, including caves, rivers, forests, mountains, and open fields. These habitats often correspond with a Pokémon’s elemental type. For example, Water-type Pokémon are commonly found in oceans or rivers, while Grass-type Pokémon are more likely to appear in meadows or forested areas. In the Pokémon video games, a Pokémon’s habitat determines where it can be encountered, making location an important factor in gameplay. Each Pokédex entry typically includes information about the environments in which that Pokémon can be found.
Evolution
Another key aspect of the Pokémon franchise is evolution. In this context, evolution refers to a transformation that occurs when a Pokémon gains sufficient experience, resulting in a new form with different attributes. Unlike biological evolution, which occurs over generations through natural selection, Pokémon evolution is an immediate and individual transformation. Not all Pokémon evolve; some species exist in a single form. For those that do evolve, the relationships between different evolutionary stages are typically presented clearly within the Pokédex, allowing users to understand how each Pokémon develops.
